Pet-Friendly Guide to Ekkamai

Do you need a pet-friendly apartment or condominium in Bangkok’s Ekkamai neighbourhood? While finding your new home is always an exciting process, things might not be that straightforward when pets are involved. Of course, for pet owners like yourself, leaving your beloved pooch or kitty behind is not an option, but many landlords and juristic officers will quickly turn you away as soon as they get a sniff of your furry friends.

That’s where we come in! At Bangkok Condos, we know how much your pets mean to you, so that’s why we’ve put together this guide to pet-friendly accommodation in Ekkamai. We’ve listed some of the best pet-friendly buildings in this thriving district that will welcome you and your pets with open arms, and we’ve even done the legwork to find the best pet-focused places in the community where you can chill out or dine out without leaving your pets at home.

Get to Know Ekkamai

When Thai people talk about Ekkamai, they’re essentially referring to Sukhumvit Soi 63 and all the smaller streets that branch off from the main road. Sometimes, you’ll see it written as Ekamai, but rest assured, both names denote the same location. It’s easily accessed from Ekkamai BTS station on its Southern extremity, while to the North, it’s connected to Bangkok’s main waterway, the Saen Saeb Canal, via the Wichit Witthaya School pier.

Tip for Dog Owners: If you and your dog like to stay fit together, then a stroll up and down the main road in Ekkamai should do the trick. A walk from Ekkamai BTS station to the Phetchaburi Road intersection at the Northern end of Ekkamai takes around 1 hour. Just be sure to stay well hydrated and stop off at a pet-friendly café or restaurant if you need a break from the Bangkok sun.

While its neighbouring district, Thong Lor, often steals the limelight and attracts hordes of tourists and short-term residents, Ekkamai is better-known to longstanding ex-pats seeking the same luxury accommodation, high-quality restaurants, and stylish lifestyle malls but without the crowds. That’s not to say Ekkamai is off-the-beaten-track, as it’s still well within the catchment of what most people consider to be downtown, but you’ll defiantly notice a difference in the clientele.

With that said, the chances are that if you’re interested in living in this exciting part of town, then you already know your way around Bangkok and simply need some advice on the best pet-friendly accommodation in the area. So, let’s get down to brass tacks and see where you and your pets are welcome.

Dog-Friendly Accommodation in Ekkamai

Somerset Ekamai Bangkok

Our first recommendation is the Somerset Ekamai Bangkok which offers a wide range of luxury serviced rooms with fantastic views of Bangkok’s skyline. Located within a short 10-minute walk to Ekkamai BTS Station, this mixed-use high-rise development comprises three modern buildings. The Somerset Ekamai Bangkok offers plenty of choices for living spaces, and it also caters to your corporate and leisure needs. Its 130 modern residence units range in size from 20 SQM – 242 SQM and include studio rooms, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom options.

All the rooms are fully equipped for comfort and convenience, with a Smart TV, a working space, and a fully-equipped kitchen. Complimentary WiFi is available throughout the building, while secured, private parking in an automated parking garage is available on site.

To keep a pet at the Somerset Ekamai Bangkok, you need to pay a rather substantial deposit that is returned after a final inspection when you vacate the room. Of course, all being well, the full amount will be returned, but it’s something you need to be prepared for when moving in. Additionally, a cleaning fee is required before check-in, which varies in price depending on the size of the room. However, while all this may seem pricey at first glance, the Somerset Ekamai Bangkok may be cheaper in the long run when compared to other serviced apartments in its class as there are no daily fees to keep a pet.

Lastly, their policies state that residents can keep one pet per room, with a size restriction of up to 12 kg, so if you have a larger breed or have multiple pets, you may need to look elsewhere.

Ekamai Gardens

Another brilliant family-friendly serviced apartment option is Ekamai Gardens, which offers 46 spacious serviced residences kitted out with all the modern amenities you’ll need to make you feel at home. Built in 2007, this low-rise pet-friendly development consists of two buildings, both seven stories tall, each secured by 24-hour CCTV and key card access.

Generally speaking, Ekamai Gardens is better suited for long-term tenants as they offer leases for up to 1 year and have no daily fees for keeping pets. Located within a short walk to Ekkamai BTS station and Gateway Ekkamai, these serviced apartments offer great convenience and could make the perfect home for you and your pet in Ekkamai. One thing to note is that the building does limit pet ownership to medium-size animals, but there are no strictly enforced rules regarding weight restrictions, so you can probably use that to your advantage.

While the rooms are large, ranging from 160 SQM – 290 SQM, they still retain a cosy feel, and you can choose from three-bedroom, four-bedroom, duplex, and triplex layouts, which all offer a fully equipped kitchen. You can enjoy the great facilities on offer in your free time, including a swimming pool, fitness centre, BBQ and picnic area, sauna, and a children’s play area, making this the perfect family-friendly development.

Baan Ananda

Should a pet-friendly condo in Ekkamai be more to your tastes, the Baan Ananda could be the answer. Completed in 2007 and comprised of two 8-floor buildings, this low-rise condominium development features 25 selective units, meaning there are only two units per floor. This gives residents at Baan Ananda a very private lifestyle, without compromising on space, but also gives the development as a whole a real community feel.

The large three-bedroom rooms offer 300 SQM of space, and what’s more, each unit even comes with additional basement storage, something you’d be hard pushed to find anywhere else in Bangkok. Every unit is fully furnished and stylishly decorated, and the building is equipped with all the modern amenities you’d expect to find in a Bangkok condo.

A couple of noteworthy facilities include the saltwater swimming pool and the 24-hour shuttle service to Ekkamai BTS station, which provides a drop-off and collection service, making it very handy for getting around. Although, to be honest, you may only need the shuttle if you have a lot of shopping to carry as the station is only a few minutes away on foot.

Unlike our first two options, which only cater to small and medium-sized pets, Baan Ananda allows residents to keep large dogs too, so that could seal the deal for those of you with a Siberian Husky or a St Bernard!

Fullerton Sukhumvit

Fullerton Sukhumvit is a high-rise condominium located on Sukhumvit Road near Ekkamai BTS Station. This pet-friendly condo in Ekkamai, developed by Major Development PCL, comprises a single 37-storey building with 139 units. It offers residents the choice between two-bedroom, three-bedroom, duplex and triplex penthouse units, ranging in size from 96 SQM – 376 SQM.

Again, this condo provides residents with a wide range of superb facilities. Of particular note here is a sauna and a large swimming pool with lounging area surrounded by luscious greenery, either of which could be the perfect way to unwind after a long day working at the office.

While the building is pet-friendly with no additional fees required, it is necessary to check with the landlord of the specific unit you want to rent if they allow pets, but keep in mind that the building’s juristic office notes that only medium-sized pets are allowed.

The Best Pet-Friendly Spots in Ekkamai

Now that you know the best pet-friendly accommodation in Ekkamai, we’d like to show you where you and your pet can hang out together in this part of Bangkok. While there may not be as many options here for places to go with your pet as there are in Thong Lor or Phrom Phong, a couple of spots in Ekkamai did catch our eye. Besides, it’s only a short journey to either of those neighbourhoods from Ekkamai, so you’ll still be surrounded by plenty of pet-friendly places to visit.

POWWOWWOW

This eco-conscious lifestyle community centre in Ekkamai is an enjoyable green space to relax in with your pets. The designers of POWWOWWOW have transformed this small plot of land into an urban hangout spot surrounded by towering high-rise residential buildings, making it the perfect place in Ekkamai to escape Bangkok’s concrete jungle.

Here you can connect with other pet owners and enjoy some great tasting food and drinks, purchase a range of sustainable goods, or even join in with some of the regular community activities.

Mother May I

If you want to enjoy some of the best Thai food and desserts in the area while taking your pet along with you, Mother May I is the place for you. You can choose between eating inside the traditional Thai-style house with its impressive glass conservatory while you watch your pet play outside on the well-manicured lawn, or you can join them by dining on the terrace and making the most of the lush greenery.

Veterinary Info

Finally, we would like to mention that we recommend heading over to our Thong Lor info page for all your pet’s veterinary needs, as there, we’ve provided contact details for some of the best animal medical care in Bangkok.
